Ed acted as Project Architect for this scheme of 127 apartments in Stratford which formed part of the accommodation for athletes for the 2012 Olympic Games before its conversion to standard residential units.
The divided plan form allows for a very high percentage of the homes to have double and even triple aspect outlooks which not only improves views and daylight in the apartments, but also helps with cross ventilation for cooling. As part of the largest building site in Europe, efficiency of design and construction were paramount and off-site manufacturing was used for balconies, bathroom pods and the double-height pre-cast concrete facade panels.
Ed was part of the team at Panter Hudspith Architects from the planning application to completion on site.
